Pulse 2 - Open Source Computer System Management for medium and large organizations
Pulse 2 helps organizations ranging from dozens to 100 000+ heterogeneous computers to inventory, maintain, update and take full control on their IT assets. It has been designed to handle 100 000+ computers spread on many sites.
It supports heterogeneous platforms such as MS Windows, GNU/Linux (Mandriva, Redhat, Debian, Ubuntu., etc.), Mac OSX, HP-UX, IBM AIX and Solaris systems.
June 17th 2009 - Pulse 2 1.2.2 available
This version brings little changes from the previous, as development now focuses on version 1.3 (Hard disk mastering).
For the most part, added patches are minor, but two large improvements phases are ending with this release:
- Completion of a first optimization step in the dyngroup module, where dynamic group deletion speed was enhanced,
- Introduction of a smarter cleaning mechanism for win32 platforms in order to circumvent any locks held on uploaded files.
Please note that the "smart cleaning mechanism" is partly based on tools embedded in Pulse 2 Secure Agent starting from version 1.2.1, whose last version 1.2.2 was released on 2009-06-11. Although Pulse 2 1.2.2 can work perfectly with pre-1.2.1 versions of the agent, people experiencing "file/folder locked" issues on MS win32 platforms MS are invited to update their agents. As from version 1.2.0, the agent is now fully vista-compliant, needless to say the upgrade worth a try !
As usual, installation instructions and packages are available here, and updated documentation may be found here. The Pulse 2 demo image has also been updated, amongst its evaluation guide.
June 11th 2009 - Pulse 2 Secure Agent (SSH) version 1.2.2 is available
This release fixes two issues :
- the impossibility to install the agent on FAT32 filesystems (upgrading the agent still worked however),
- due to some changes in cygssl-0.9.8.dll, wget was un-usable until the host was restarted, this is now cleanly handled.
As usual, installation/upgrade instructions, documentation and packages are available here. Upgrade instructions are available here.
May 26th 2009 - Pulse 2 Secure Agent (SSH) version 1.2.1 is available
As we were short in time to release the previous "official" version (1.2.0), this announce summarizes new features found in both (1.2.0 and 1.2.1) versions.
The most noticeable feature found in this release is that the Pulse 2 Secure Agent is now fully Microsoft Vista (and Microsoft 2008 Server) compliant. Amongst others, this new version release also features:
- up-to-date Cygwin tools,
- Pulse 2 Smart Cleaner scripts introduction.
Please note that the Smart Cleaner scripts are required for the Pulse 2 "smart cleaning mechanism" - which is also due in a few days - to work. Knowing this, people experiencing "file/folder locked" issues on MS win32 platforms MS are invited to update their agents.
As usual, installation/upgrade instructions, documentation and packages are available here. Upgrade instructions are available here.
May 14th 2009 - Pulse 2 1.2.1 available
An enormous work has been undertaken to improve the user experience, especially on the fluidity and ergonomics of the interface.
Other parts, however, earn some eagerly functions such as:
- In the inventory module, the ability to split clients into logical entities and to give users access to certain entities,
- In the MSC module, a new proxy mode (multiple) to make the deployment of packages over broadband link safer and quicker.
As usual, installation instructions and packages are available here, and updated documentation may be found here. The Pulse 2 demo image has also been updated, amongst its evaluation guide.
Jan. 15th 2009 - Pulse 2 1.2.0 available
We are proud to announce that version 1.2.0 of Pulse 2 is available for all.
Jan. 31st 2008 - Pulse 2 at Solutions Linux 2008 in Paris
